Kia ora Whanau,

WOW, they don’t call it March Madness for nothing! What an incredibly busy last month we’ve had at I Have a Dream.

Highlights include:
 Our Donor Day thanking all of our Donors for their financial support
 $1.4 million donation received from the Wright Family Foundation
 A visit from the Hon. Tracey Martin (Associate Minister of Education and Minister for Children) to learn about our work
 Hosting our Visitor Open Day so that those interested in supporting our work could come meet the #Dream Team and see what we do
 Running our first Mentor Evening for our volunteer Mentors who will be working with Year 6 students this year
 The filming of our new TV Commercial took place featuring Duncan Garner which will air on
TV3 later this year. Thanks to the Mediaworks Foundation who sponsor our adverts and to staff and students who took part.
 Conducting our research in partnership with the University of Auckland where over 400 of our Dreamers were surveyed to learn how I Have a Dream and our schools are helping our students showing where improvements can be made
 Farewelling our German intern Sophia as she returned home to her whanau after six months volunteering full time with us.
 Placing more volunteers alongside our kids e.g. the mentoring through cooking programme run with students from Tiki High at Dreamer HQ, reading volunteers who support some of our kids who need a little extra reading help, and some who help at our after school programmes. Plus a whole lot more starting next term.
 Establishing some new #DreamPartners in the community who want to help our tamariki achieve their dreams through Volunteering, Gifts in Kind or Donations. These include; Pak N Save Whangarei, Huanui College, Ray White Rural Commercial Sales Team, Vodafone Foundation, AWF Madison, iPadHire.co.nz
 Celebrating an influx of new enrolments – we are now nearing 85% of all students across our 4 schools signed up into the programme
 Plus a lot of exciting stories as our Navigators have been busy supporting tamariki in classrooms, running their after school programmes and helping out with school trips and events…. See photos over the page!

Want to Find out More!
We invite you to attend our new Whanau Information Evenings which will be held the first week of each term to report back to whanau, and to communicate our plans for the term ahead. It’s also a chance for any whanau not yet engaged in our
programme to come along and learn about what we do. Please see the details in this newsletter or look out for the Whanau Information Evening flyer which will be sent home during the last week of school.

As the saying goes “It takes a village to raise a child” and we are thankful for the many whanau, volunteers, school staff, dream partners, and donors who are all contributing in some shape or form to create that village around our most precious resource…..OUR TAMARIKI!!

Nga Mihi Nunui Kia Koutou, we can’t do it without you.
