Volunteer Opportunity - General Positions

Holiday Programme Volunteer

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Tutor in Math and Reading in one-on-one or small group settings
  • Social activities and physical education
  • Chaperone/Group Leader during field trips and community service projects
  • Lead/Assist teaching crafts or skills to Dreamers
  • Building relationships with Dreamers

Volunteer Times:

  • Monday through Friday from 8:30am-3:30pm during the school term breaks and the Christmas/ January period.

Field Trip / Activities Volunteer

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Supervise activities for Dreamers in the following areas:

  • Community service projects
  • Educational enrichment activities or trips
  • Tertiary Institution Site Visits
  • Job Site Tours
  • General Field trips

Volunteer Times:

  • Typically one Saturday every month, but some trips could vary Monday through Sunday depending on the activities scheduled.

Administrative Volunteer

If you would like to make a difference in the life a Dreamer, but would prefer to work in an office setting, the following are available:

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Producing Quarterly Newsletters
  • Notifying Dreamers about Upcoming Events
  • Programme Activity Planning
  • Fundraising
  • Website Maintenance
  • Filing, typing, data entry
  • Mailings and other duties that help IHAD programmes run smoothly

Volunteer Times:

  • Anytime Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

Special Events Volunteer

Special events could include:

  • camps, awards ceremonies, parent evenings, site visits etc.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Help supervise Dreamers during special events

Volunteer Times:

  • Monday through Sunday, depending upon the event
  • Volunteers are contacted at least one week in advance to set-up availability


Computer / I.T Volunteer

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Providing Computer and Software support, training and assistance to Dreamers and Dreamers families
  • Setting up computers in Dreamers homes
  • Providing Technical Support
  • Teaching Basic computer skills
  • Teaching Email, Word Processing and Internet etc.

Volunteer Times:

  • Anytime, Monday through Sunday to suit availability


Sports or Arts Coaching Volunteer

Providing Dreamers with new experiences or opportunities and coaching them in an area of personal interest (e.g. kayaking, tennis, swimming lessons, singing, dance, musical instruments, cultural activities, crafts etc.)

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Providing personal coaching of dreamers in a specific art or sport
  • Providing excellent supervision and safety
  • Working 1 on 1 with some Dreamers
  • Building relationships with Dreamers

Volunteer Times:

  • Anytime, Monday through Sunday to suit availability
