Wesley Dreamer "Class of 2012"
Mt Roskill, Auckland
New Zealand

|
Wesley is a low-decile area in the heart of Mt Roskill, Auckland.
It represents the exciting new face of NZ, in that it serves
a multi-ethnic community, with many different countries
represented from places throughout the Pacific Islands,
Africa, India, Asia and the Middle East.

In 2006 the "I Have a Dream" Programme moved from its
previous location based at Wesley Primary school into its new
purpose-built Dreamer Centre on the grounds alongside Wesley
Intermediate School. The Dreamers Centre is where our Project
Staff carry out their daily activities and work with the Dreamers.
The Dreamer Centre will be based here until 2012 as the Dreamers
prepare for high school, university or other tertiary study.
The spacious new Dreamer Centre offers a computer lab, plus
dedicated areas for homework, tutoring, and “chilling out.”
It also has a library, a kitchen, and an office for our staff.
With the Dreamers now spread out at different Schools it’s great
that the Centre is located at a central point for most of our
Dreamers’ homes.
Currently the Wesley Dreamer "Class of 2012" is the only
"I Have a Dream" project operating within New Zealand, and the first
project to be started outside of the U.S.A. We anticipate that
additional "I Have a Dream" projects will be started at new sites
within New Zealand over the upcoming years once additional
Project Sponsors are found.
